Full speed to Alsace

 “We received an order from Euronav to our Oslo HQ at 10 am on Wednesday 1 March 2017. They required an additional service air compressor to Alsace. We processed the order, put a man and the compressor on a plane and had it delivered in Singapore 24 hours later. A speedy delivery indeed,” says Morten Orlien, area sales manager at TMC Compressors (TMC).

The Alsace is a 320,350 dwt VLCC that is operated by Euronav. She already had one service air compressor on board, but required additional deck air. Hence, Euronav reached out to TMC to supply it.

The 24-hour delivery to Singapore was made possible by TMC’s investment in a major marine compressor stocking programme. Under the programme, TMC carries more than 100 different marine compressors and air dryers in stock, with effects ranging from 7 to 200 kW, which can be supplied to customers worldwide at rapid speed.

TMC’s retrofit stocking programme has stock points in Oslo, Singapore, Dubai and Houston. The company offers free freight via sea and greatly reduced rates on airfreight to all major shipping hubs anywhere in the world. A free installation kit and 24/7 online support is also provided.

TMC’s compressors can easily be installed by the vessel crew themselves. There is no need to send a service technician offshore.“The stocking programme is our contribution towards enabling ship and rig operators to replace or upgrade on board service air supply as quickly and cost-effective as possible,” adds Morten Orlien.
