International marine compressor supplier TMC Compressors (TMC) has won a contract from MV WERFTEN to supply a complete compressed air system to two cruise ships the German shipyard group is building for Genting Hong Kong’s Star Cruises.

Under the contract, TMC will manufacture and deliver 4 x 85 KW marine compressors as well as 4 x RD600 air driers to each of the two cruise ships. The equipment will be delivered to MV WERFTEN’s yard in Wismar, Germany, where the cruise ships are being built.

The contract value is undisclosed.

MV WERFTEN is currently constructing two “Global Class” cruise ships for Star Cruises. With a registered tonnage (RT) of 204,000 tons each and over 340 metres length, the ships will be among the largest on the market and can accommodate more than 5,000 passengers spread across 20 decks and 2,400 cabins. The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2020 and 2021.

“Any equipment supplier to the maritime industries would be proud to deliver technology to what will be the world’s largest cruise ships in terms of passenger capacity. TMC is no different. We have an extensive track record of deliveries to cruise vessels, but it is always exciting – and a stamp of approval – to be able to participate in major projects such as this,” says Per Kjellin, managing director of TMC.

TMC is the world’s leading supplier of compressed air systems for marine and offshore use. The company is a thoroughbred supplier of marine compressors, based on 40 years’ heritage in the marine and offshore industries. The company is headquartered in Oslo, with sales and service offices all over the world.
